Volleyball Preview: Layton Meets Weber

The Layton Lancers will face off against the Weber Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Layton is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Lehi just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 3-1 to the Pioneers.

Layton came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Weber faced Corner Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Warriors lost 3-0 to the Chargers. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Weber took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-20, 25-23.

Weber has now lost three of their last four games on the road. That's taken a toll on their 19-7 record this season. As for Layton, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.
