Basketball Recap: Port Arthur Memorial Comes Up Short

Port Arthur Memorial and Iowa Colony squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Port Arthur Memorial had to settle for second. They lost 60-37 to the Iowa Colony Pioneers. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 874th, while the Pioneers are ranked 258th).

Iowa Colony's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaliyah Rogers led the charge by dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Rogers also posted a 63% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2024. Eryn Roberts was another key player, putting up 14 points along with seven boards and seven steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Port Arthur Memorial and nudges their season record down to 8-19. As for Iowa Colony, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-13 record this season.

Port Arthur Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Iowa Colony, they will face off against Rudder at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rudder will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Iowa Colony surely won't give up without a fight.
