Football Game Preview: Canyon Lake Hawks vs. Calallen Wildcats

Two dominant signal callers in Jace Wheeler and Connor Klostermann are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Canyon Lake Hawks will challenge the Calallen Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Canyon Lake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Taylor 63-19. The Hawks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Chris Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 123 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Gram Simpson helped out on the ground, rushing for 84 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Meanwhile, Calallen waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 27-14 win over the Ricebirds. The Wildcats' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Canyon Lake's record now sits at 8-3. As for Calallen, their record is now 9-2.

Canyon Lake came up short against Calallen in their previous meeting back in November of 2020, falling 37-31. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
