The GRACE Christian Eagles will square off against the Greensboro Day School Bengals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
GRACE Christian is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They fell 7-4 to John Paul II Catholic.
Tucker Riggs put in work no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Conner Tack made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Greensboro Day School made sure to put some runs up on the board against Asheville Christian Academy on Friday. Greensboro Day School blew past Asheville Christian Academy 10-2. Considering the Bengals' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Like GRACE Christian, Greensboro Day School also got a great game from a two-way player: Trevor Waters. Throwing, Waters struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Nick Salas tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. At bat, Waters scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-5, while Salas went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most runs Waters has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Oliver Fisher and Luke Ray did most of the damage at the plate: Fisher went 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI, while Ray scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Trenton Travis, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Greensboro Day School now has a winning record of 2-1. As for GRACE Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
