Volleyball Recap: East Wake Academy Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

East Wake Academy had won four straight road games and Avery Schmidt did her part to make it five on Tuesday. The Eagles blew past the Raleigh Charter Phoenix 3-0 for which the team can thank Schmidt, who had 25 assists and 20 digs. Schmidt is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season.

While East Wake Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-19, 25-20.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead East Wake Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emerson Morris, who had seven kills, six digs, three aces, and two blocks. Another player making a difference was McKenley Fitts, who had six kills, six aces, and four digs.

They weren't the only good server: East Wake Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Raleigh Charter only served four aces.

East Wake Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Raleigh Charter, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
