Soccer Game Preview: Southside vs. Fountain Inn

The Southside Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Fountain Inn Fury at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Southside is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Wren just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Hurricanes, falling 4-1.

Meanwhile, Fountain Inn kept a clean sheet against Emerald on Monday. They skirted past the Vikings 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Fountain Inn were the better team in the second half.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Mason Coons, who's now up to two this season.

Fountain Inn has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those five contests. As for Southside, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-4.

Southside took their victory against Fountain Inn when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 5-1 score. In that matchup, the Tigers amassed a halftime lead of 3-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
