Basketball Recap: Collinsville Cardinals vs. Edmond Memorial Bulldogs
Collinsville suffered their biggest loss since December 17, 2024 on Friday. They were beaten by the Edmond Memorial Bulldogs 57-30. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 28th).
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Edmond Memorial was led to victory by Avery Hjelmstad and Janiyah Williams. Hjelmstad went 5 for 10 en route to 19 points and seven steals, while Williams posted 15 points along with seven boards and three steals. With that strong performance, Hjelmstad is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. Justyce Booker was another key player, putting up four points.
Collinsville is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9. As for Edmond Memorial, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
Collinsville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-29 defeat against Del City on the 25th. As for Edmond Memorial, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-45 win against Charles Page on the 25th.
