Recap: Cummings Cavaliers vs. Jordan-Matthews Jets
The Cummings Cavaliers gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Jordan-Matthews out 53-51. That's another feather in the cap for Cummings, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Ja'Kway Robertson was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ja'Kari Dobbins, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Cummings' victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Jordan-Matthews, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cummings won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Granville at 7:30 p.m. on December 6th. Hopefully South Granville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Friday. As for Jordan-Matthews, they will head out on the road to face off against Chatham Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chatham Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Jordan-Matthews likes a good challenge.
