Softball Recap: Declo Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Soda Springs, Declo was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They skirted past the Wendell Trojans 10-8. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 10-8 win two weeks ago.

Makendrie Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Claire Wilson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Alayna Wageman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Declo's record now sits at 9-11. As for Wendell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-8.

Looking ahead, Declo is taking a road trip to face off against Malad at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets will need to watch out since the Dragons have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. Wendell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
