Basketball Recap: Lake Oconee Academy Takes a Loss

Lake Oconee Academy lost against Greene County last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lake Oconee Academy Titans fell just short of the Greene County Tigers by a score of 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Titans have suffered since December 21, 2024.

Despite the loss, Lake Oconee Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Canon Mullen went 7 of 14 en route to 25 points and six boards. Mullen's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. James Wright was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Lake Oconee Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Greene County, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.

Lake Oconee Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-45 win against Washington-Wilkes on the 1st. As for Greene County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-44 victory against Monroe Area on the 1st.
