Softball Recap: Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones vs. Carlinville Cavaliers

Sacred Heart-Griffin extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 12-12 in the process. They lost 8-0 to the Carlinville Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 back in April.

As for Carlinville, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-9. Considering they have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Carlinville's part, the result came thanks to Hallie Gibson's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. Gibson has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Isabella Tiburzi was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Hannah Gibson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Sacred Heart-Griffin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carlinville, they have already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Auburn on the 24th.
