Soccer Game Preview: Palmetto vs. Lakewood Ranch

Palmetto is 0-6 against Lakewood Ranch since January of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Palmetto Tigers will be playing at home against the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Palmetto is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.4 goals per game this season.

Palmetto's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Southeast. Considering the Tigers have won five contests by more than four goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Southeast from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Ja'Lynn Sanders led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Lakewood Ranch was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They fell just short of Sarasota by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Sailors are ranked 177th).

Lakewood Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4-2. As for Palmetto, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
