Baseball Game Preview: Coral Springs Colts vs. American Heritage Stallions

The Coral Springs Colts will venture away from home to challenge the American Heritage Stallions at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Coral Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Coral Springs took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Pompano Beach. The win was some much needed relief for the Colts as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jaxon Krugman was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Coral Springs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Natron Wheeler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, American Heritage waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They skirted past the Knights 7-5.

Anthony Toscano looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryan Ashley, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Ober, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

American Heritage's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Coral Springs, their record is now 10-11.

Coral Springs might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from American Heritage when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
