Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Atlanta Takes a Loss

Cristo Rey Atlanta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 71-24 loss at the hands of the Whitefield Academy WolfPack. Cristo Rey Atlanta was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-15.

Whitefield Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hailey Houlder out in front who went 10 for 15 on her way to 25 points along with six assists and five boards. Houlder has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amelia Newman, who went 9 of 18 en route to 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals.

Cristo Rey Atlanta's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Whitefield Academy, they moved to 13-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Cristo Rey Atlanta will be playing at home against West Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitefield Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Landmark Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Whitefield Academy is facing Landmark Christian at the right time seeing as Landmark Christian is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
