Baseball Recap: Fullerton Gets the Win

Fullerton got themselves on the board against Costa Mesa on Tuesday, but Costa Mesa never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Mustangs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Declan Fitzgerald tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Mason Park was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Calin Williams, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Fullerton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Costa Mesa only posted a batting average of .048.

Fullerton's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Costa Mesa, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-2.

Fullerton and Costa Mesa should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Indians (ranked 23rd) will meet Segerstrom (ranked 210th) at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fullerton 1.9, the Jaguars 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Costa Mesa will square off against Ocean View at 3:15 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (83 vs. 434).
