Softball Game Preview: Hiawatha Hawks vs. Earlville Red Raiders

Hiawatha hasn't had much luck against Earlville recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Hawks will host the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Hiawatha will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Hiawatha is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Christian Liberty 24-13 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won three in a row.

Hiawatha let Ashtyn Fredrickson and Nelly Delvalle run wild. Fredrickson got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI, while Delvalle got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Delvalle has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brielle Molloy, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Hiawatha always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Earlville waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 13-2 win. The Red Raiders not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 16-0).

Hiawatha's victory bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Earlville, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
