Softball Recap: Mt. Carmel Find Success

Mt. Carmel hadn't done well against Steele Canyon recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Mt. Carmel Sundevils walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Steele Canyon Cougars. For the Sundevils, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Jordan Grimaud was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Madie Codner, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

The victory made it two in a row for Mt. Carmel and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Steele Canyon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Mt. Carmel will take on Mater Dei Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Steele Canyon, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Steele Canyon Cougars face off against Escondido Charter Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
