Baseball Recap: St. Bernard Wins Going Away Against Salesian

St. Bernard made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Salesian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Mustangs on Tuesday. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 17-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Juan Sandoval spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Royce McKenzie, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Williams, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

St. Bernard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Salesian only posted a batting average of .125.

St. Bernard's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-4. As for Salesian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

St. Bernard will have a chance to go back-to-back against Salesian: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
