Basketball Recap: Jaiyden Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mcquaid Jesuit over Canisius

McQuaid Jesuit entered their matchup against Canisius on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The McQuaid Jesuit Knights fell 71-60 to the Canisius Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Crusaders are ranked third).

McQuaid Jesuit lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaiyden Jones, who went 7 of 12 en route to 21 points. Jones' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Henry Fox, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 18 points and five assists.

McQuaid Jesuit's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-3. As for Canisius, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McQuaid Jesuit will welcome Aquinas Institute at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. McQuaid Jesuit is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.7 points per game this season. As for Canisius, they will host Cardinal O'Hara at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cardinal O'Hara also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 55.7 points per game.
