Softball Recap: Summers County Bobcats vs. Oak Hill Red Devils
Summers County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They lost 21-1 to the Oak Hill Red Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 last Saturday.
As for Oak Hill, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. Considering they have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Oak Hill's part, Kinzlee Dove and KK Smith made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Dove pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Smith pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Dove got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Smith went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave Dove a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sadie Branch was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Roles, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Summers County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-8 loss against Mount View on the 23rd. As for Oak Hill, they have also already played their next game, a 17-2 victory against Richwood on the 22nd.
