Basketball Preview: Lincoln Lutheran Warriors vs. St. Cecilia Bluehawks
Lincoln Lutheran is 0-10 against the Bluehawks since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Lincoln Lutheran Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the St. Cecilia Bluehawks at 4:30 p.m. Lincoln Lutheran will be strutting in after a victory while the Bluehawks will be coming in after a defeat.
Lincoln Lutheran scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 67-25 win over Parkview Christian. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Lincoln Lutheran had established a 31 point advantage.
Lincoln Lutheran relied on the efforts of Ava Stroud, who scored 18 points, and Jenna Luebbe, who scored 23 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Luebbe has scored at least a third of Lincoln Lutheran's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Wilson, who scored nine points.
St. Cecilia has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 29-20 to Adams Central on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Cecilia in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now lost three in a row.
Lincoln Lutheran's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15. As for St. Cecilia, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
Lincoln Lutheran came up short against the Bluehawks in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 42-37. Can Lincoln Lutheran avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
