Soccer Game Preview: Jasper vs. Fairview

The Jasper Vikings will take on the Fairview Aggies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Jasper sitting on three straight wins and Fairview on six.

Jasper made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Leeds, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Vikings' defense stepped up to hand the Greenwave a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Jasper, who have now won seven contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Fairview won against Pennington two weeks ago with four goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Tuesday. The Aggies beat Arab by a goal, winning 4-3. Given Fairview's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Arab are ranked 156th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairview pushed their record up to 7-1-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those four games. As for Jasper, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5-1.
