Volleyball Recap: Nickerson Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Nickerson duked it out with Cheney on Saturday. The Panthers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost seven in a row.

Nickerson was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Cheney work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-20.

Cheney's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucy Fouquet, who had 15 digs and one assist. Fouquet has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played. Kenadi Thome was another key player, getting 11 digs and two assists.

Nickerson's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Cheney, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Nickerson has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Trinity Academy on the 27th. As for Cheney, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Collegiate on the 27th.
