Preview: Monahans Loboes vs. Greenwood Rangers
The Monahans Loboes will head out on the road to take on the Greenwood Rangers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Monahans came up short against Seminole and fell 53-41.
Meanwhile, Greenwood came tearing into Friday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Fort Stockton 90-56 on the road. Given Greenwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while Fort Stockton is ranked 1258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tatum Pierce was his usual excellent self, scoring 36 points. Another player making a difference was Colton Rauman, who scored 20 points.
Monahans' defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-12. As for Greenwood, they pushed their record up to 21-11 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Monahans and Greenwood were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but Monahans came up empty-handed after a 81-80 loss.
