Baseball Game Preview: Seaholm Maples vs. Kettering Captains

For the second straight game, Seaholm will face off against Kettering. The Maples will head out to take on the Captains at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Seaholm came out on top against Kettering on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Maples put the hurt on the Captains with a sharp 13-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Maples.

Ian Evert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Seaholm: the team is 2-0-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 11-15-2 otherwise. Evert was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam McDonald, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aaron Van De Mark, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Seaholm hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Seaholm's record now sits at 13-15-3. As for Kettering, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13-1.
