Basketball Preview: Currituck County Knights vs. Holmes Aces
The Currituck County Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Holmes Aces at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Currituck County put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Manteo 86-44 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Currituck County.
Currituck County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Morgan has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last four times he's played. Malcolm Cowell was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Holmes beat the Panthers 80-67 on Friday. The win was just what Holmes needed coming off of a 75-46 loss in their prior contest.
Currituck County's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Holmes, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-9.
Currituck County strolled past the Aces when the teams last played back in January by a score of 61-46. Does Currituck County have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Aces turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
