Recap: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Anclote Sharks
After losing to the Anclote Sharks the last time they met, the Mitchell Mustangs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Mitchell took their match on the road on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 65-11 win over Anclote. With Mitchell ahead 39-3 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Leading Mitchell to victory were Priya Jacob and Brianna Coure. Jacob scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals, while Coure dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Jacob has scored at least 25% of Mitchell's points. Kaylana Little was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
The win got Mitchell back to even at 1-1. As for Anclote, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mitchell will face off against Tarpon Springs at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Tarpon Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Monday. As for Anclote, they will head out on the road to face off against Clearwater Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
