Baseball Game Preview: Stafford Spartans vs. Alief Hastings Bears

Stafford has gone a perfect 4-0 against Alief Hastings recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Stafford Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Alief Hastings Bears at 5:30 p.m. Alief Hastings took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Stafford, who comes in off a win.

On Monday, it was close, but Stafford sidestepped Brazosport for an 8-7 win.

Dana Williams made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Williams was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, five RBI, and one run.

Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Frels, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Alief Hastings had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against Lee on Monday, falling 14-1. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Stafford was able to grind out a solid victory over Alief Hastings when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 6-3. Will Stafford repeat their success, or does Alief Hastings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
