Baseball Recap: Rowan County Starts Season with Win Against Menifee County

Rowan County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 18-0 margin over the Menifee County Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Carson Madden and Grant Rose made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Madden pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rose struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. At the plate, Madden scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2, while Rose went 2-for-3 with two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Madden a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Richardson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Mason Havens was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

Rowan County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Menifee County only posted an OBP of .100.
