Volleyball Recap: Wyoming Valley West Takes a Loss

The Wyoming Valley West Spartans came up short against the Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack on Monday and fell 3-1. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolfpack 25-16 in the first set.

Wyoming Valley West started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19.

It was another big night for Jordany Rodriguez, who had 23 digs, 12 kills, three aces, and one block for Wilkes-Barre. That's the most aces Rodriguez has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Tijan Njai, who had 27 assists and eight digs.

Wyoming Valley West's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Wilkes-Barre, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Wyoming Valley West is set to face off against their familiar foe Berwick at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Wilkes-Barre will challenge rival Dallas at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
