Poquoson and Bruton are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Islanders will face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Poquoson managed to slip by Kecoughtan the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Islanders came up short against the Warriors on Wednesday, falling 5-1. The contest was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Poquoson couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Bruton lost 4-1 to Jamestown on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Bruton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Jamestown are ranked third).

Bruton's goal came courtesy of Mason Crow, who's now up to three this season.

Poquoson dropped their record down to 4-7-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Bruton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Poquoson suffered a grim 5-2 defeat to Bruton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Islanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
