Basketball Recap: Jackson County Panthers vs. Alcovy Tigers

It was a proper cat-fight when Jackson County challenged Alcovy on Tuesday. The Jackson County Panthers snuck past the Alcovy Tigers with a 57-51 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janae Hutcherson, who posted 17 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Hutcherson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryhana Grier, who put up eight points along with ten boards and three steals.
Jackson County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Alcovy, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-9.
Coincidentally, Jackson County and Alcovy will both be playing Loganville the next time they take the court. Alcovy will head out to face Loganville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Jackson County will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
