Baseball Recap: Mount Pleasant Has No Trouble Against MOT Charter

Mount Pleasant never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against MOT Charter on Saturday. They blew past the Mustangs 14-4. The Green Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Derek Smith and Christian Mascucchini were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Smith pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Mascucchini struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. At bat, Smith went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double, while Mascucchini scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Chase Wilson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Molina, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Mount Pleasant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Mount Pleasant back to even at 2-2. As for MOT Charter, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Mount Pleasant will head out to challenge McKean at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for MOT Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against First State Military Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
