Basketball Game Preview: Southside Panthers vs. Dallas County Hornets

Southside and Dallas County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Southside Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Dallas County Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Southside beat Georgiana 63-55.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dallas County). Everything went their way against Marion on Friday as Dallas County made off with a 70-49 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Hornets have posted against the Rams since December 18, 2021.

Southside better keep an eye on Joshua Davis III. He was instrumental in Dallas County's win, almost dropping a double-double on 34 points and nine boards. Davis III's evening made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Coby Carter was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Southside's record now sits at 6-1. As for Dallas County, their record now sits at 4-7.

Southside might still be hurting after the 64-41 defeat they got from Dallas County when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Southside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
