Football Recap: Riverheads Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Riverheads entered their contest against Alleghany on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Gladiators took a 36-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. While the Gladiators had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Cougars 22-15.

When it comes to explaining why Riverheads lost, don't look at Jackson Fitzgerald. Despite the final result, he rushed for 91 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Another rusher making a difference was Preston McCauley, who rushed for 98 yards and one TD on only 13 carries.

Haiden Nicely was a one-man wrecking crew For Alleghany. as he threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 33 yards and one score.

Riverheads' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Alleghany, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
