Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Kaiser Cougars

The Roosevelt Rough Riders will head out on the road to take on the Kaiser Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Roosevelt is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Hawaii's top teams: Kailua, who was ranked sixth at the time (Roosevelt was ranked seventh). Roosevelt won by a run and slipped past Kailua 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rough Riders have posted against the Surfriders since March 12, 2022.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Kaiser made sure to put some runs up on the board against Moanalua last Saturday. Kaiser came out on top against Moanalua by a score of 12-7. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Menehune on their field since April 2, 2022.

The win made it two in a row for Roosevelt and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Kaiser, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Roosevelt skirted past Kaiser 8-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roosevelt since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
