Football Recap: Brookwood Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

Brookwood had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 31-24 to the Houston County Bears on Saturday. The matchup was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Broncos couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Brookwood lost, don't look at Brayden Tyson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 140 yards and one touchdown. Tyson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 128 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Houston County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colin Anderson, who rushed for 101 yards and one score on only eight carries. Anderson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. Another player making a difference was Ryan Maxwell, who threw for 219 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 71.9% of his passes.

Brookwood has already played their next game, a 21-0 victory against Shiloh on the 22nd. As for Houston County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-42 win against Effingham County on the 22nd.
