League recap: Lewis races to league-leading run for Santana

Grossmont - Valley recap September 24, 2013

Zach Lewis of Santana ran for the longest rushing play in Grossmont - Valley this season against Parker last week. Lewis ran for 53 yards on the play and finished with 175 on the day as his team lost to the Lancers.

Monte Vista moved up to 522 from 585 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Monarchs climbed the ranks as a result of besting Sweetwater 34-3.

Mount Miguel's dynamic duo of Brad Moreno and Rashad Harper proved to be unstoppable against Helix, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Moreno threw for 251 yards and Harper had 134 yards receiving. Jovon Richardson helped Mount Miguel's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 58 yards.

The Matadors' dynamic duo of Moreno and Harper proved tough for the Highlanders to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Lewis was the most successful running back in the league this week.

Harper was the best receiver in Grossmont - Valley this week as Mount Miguel fell to Helix.

Moreno put up the best numbers through the air as Shaun McDade's team lost to Troy Starr's team.

Mount Miguel's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Matadors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Moreno has thrown for 651 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Harper has 16 catches for 350 yards.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, El Capitan beat Valhalla 49-25,. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
