Football Game Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. Mission Hills Grizzlies + How To Watch

The Carlsbad Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Mission Hills Grizzlies at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Carlsbad is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Carlsbad blew past Torrey Pines, posting a 35-3 victory. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Falcons are ranked 129th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carlsbad's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli MacNeal led the charge by throwing for 212 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 40 yards. Another player making a difference was Rocky Cummings, who picked up 103 receiving yards and three scores.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Carlsbad's defense and their six sacks. In that department, Ashawn Cranford was the leader with four.

Meanwhile, on Friday Mission Hills' undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 35-34 W against La Costa Canyon. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Carlsbad better keep an eye on Troy Huhn. He was instrumental in Mission Hills' win, throwing for 201 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 84.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 34 yards.

Carlsbad's record now sits at 6-0. As for Mission Hills, their record is now an identical 6-0.

Carlsbad came up short against Mission Hills in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 35-28. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
