The Palisades Pumas will head out to take on the Ballantyne Ridge Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ballantyne Ridge took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Palisades, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Palisades turned things around against Olympic on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 20-1 victory.
Zahria Montgomery was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Sanaa Dorsey was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracie Goodrich, who scored four runs while going 2-for-3.
Palisades hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Ballantyne Ridge's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 8-3 to East Mecklenburg.
Ballantyne Ridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savanna Brown, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Palisades' record is now 7-11. As for Ballantyne Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Palisades hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Ballantyne Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Palisades was able to grind out a solid win over Ballantyne Ridge when the teams last played back in March, winning 10-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pumas since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
