Baseball Recap: Broughton Falls to Wakefield in First Game of Season

Broughton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Wakefield Wolverines by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Capitals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Broughton got a good showing from Sam Harris, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Broughton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Carroll, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI.

Broughton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-4 victory against Green Level on the 26th. As for Wakefield, they have also already played their next game, a 10-1 loss against Leesville Road on the 26th.
