Softball Game Preview: Mt. Rainier Rams vs. Kentridge Chargers

Mt. Rainier is 1-9 against Kentridge since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. Mt. Rainier has given up an average of 13.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Mt. Rainier's offense. They came up short against Tahoma on Thursday, falling 20-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Rams were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kentridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Auburn Riverside on Thursday.

Jozi Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Genesis Miller was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Benavides, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Kentridge's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Mt. Rainier, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.
