Basketball Recap: Bellows Falls Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with White River Valley

On Thursday, Bellows Falls faced White River Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Bellows Falls Terriers took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the White River Valley Wildcats. The Terriers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 40-34.

Bellows Falls lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Veronica Moore, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in rebounds (seven). Another player making a difference was Abby Nystrom, who posted 16 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Bellows Falls smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 18 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Bellows Falls' loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 14-5. As for White River Valley, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3.

Bellows Falls didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-38 victory against Green Mountain on the 1st. White River Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
