Softball Game Preview: Wayne County War Eagles vs. Gautier Gators

For the second straight game, Wayne County will face off against Gautier. The War Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Gators at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

While Wayne County's win against Gautier wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The War Eagles had just enough and edged out the Gators 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the War Eagles in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won four in a row.

Olivia Sims was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Annah Carr, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Wayne County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gautier struck out eight times.

Wayne County's win bumped their record up to 7-17-1. As for Gautier, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
