Preview: Southside Southerners vs. Camden Fairview Cardinals

The Southside Southerners will be playing at home against the Camden Fairview Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

With a playoff game on the line, Southside rose to the challenge on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-17 win over Robinson. The win was nothing new for Southside as they're now sitting on three straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savion Hall, who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Witt, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Farmington typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday Camden Fairview proved too difficult a challenge. Camden Fairview enjoyed a cozy 43-29 victory over Farmington. The victory was just what Camden Fairview needed coming off of a 42-14 defeat in their prior contest.

Trent Haygood got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 317 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.4 yards per carry. Haygood was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Jabauree Lockhart, who rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries.

Southside's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Camden Fairview, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Southside has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 283.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Camden Fairview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 173.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
