Baseball Recap: East Ascension Triumphs

After only two runs in their last game, East Ascension made sure to put some runs up on the board against French Settlement on Saturday. The East Ascension Spartans walked away with a 12-7 win over the French Settlement Lions. Considering the Spartans' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Ethan Blanchard made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Blanchard was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Alex Moran was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. Brennan Cryer also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

East Ascension always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as French Settlement only posted an OBP of .394.

East Ascension now has a winning record of 3-2. As for French Settlement, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, East Ascension will welcome Berwick at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for French Settlement, they will venture away from home to take on Plaquemine at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
