Basketball Recap: Summertown Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Summertown's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 76-54 margin over the Lewis County Panthers. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 22 points or more this season.

Kurt Burleson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 35 points and six rebounds. Those 35 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Campbell, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Summertown is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31 points. As for Lewis County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Summertown and Lewis County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Summertown (ranked 129th) will meet Fayetteville (ranked 367th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Summertown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.1 points per game this season. Similarly, Lewis County (ranked 177th) will meet Battle Creek (ranked 404th) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
