Volleyball Recap: Willmar Comes Up Short

If Willmar was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of St. Peter last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals came up short against the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm on Thursday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-17.

Despite the defeat, Willmar saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jordan Blahosky had 12 digs. Blahosky is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

Willmar moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Willmar will take on Alexandria at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sauk Rapids-Rice, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Kimball on the 6th.
