Softball Recap: Sudan Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Sudan waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Ralls Jackrabbits 17-6. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by seven runs or more this season.

Lillianna Sanchez and Reyna Limon-Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Sanchez went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Limon-Johnson scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Limon-Johnson a new career-high in RBI (two). Kalissa Harris was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Sudan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .531 or higher in five consecutive games.

Sudan pushed their record up to 11-7-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Ralls, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sudan will head out to take on Hale Center at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sudan will need to watch out since Hale Center has now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Ralls, they are taking a road trip to challenge Olton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Olton has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.4 runs per game on average), something Ralls will no doubt try to take advantage of.
