Preview: Richfield Tigers vs. Dietrich Blue Devils
The Richfield Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Dietrich Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Richfield can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hagerman 51-22 at home. Richfield pushed the score to 43-16 by the end of the third, a deficit Hagerman had little chance of recovering from.
Richfield had a senior duo take command as Kasey Hendren almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists and Shelby Jones dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Hendren is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Kent, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Dietrich had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 51-33 victory over Richfield.
Richfield's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. As for Dietrich, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.
Richfield ended up a good deal behind Dietrich in their previous matchup on Thursday, losing 51-33. Can Richfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
